The history of Takashimaya department stores dates back to a shop with kimonos opened in 1831. Currently, the chain has got 17 branches in Japan, as well as in Singapore, Shanghai and Taiwan. It is famous for its excellent and courteous customer service. It offers a number of exclusive Western brands, as well as traditional Japanese products of the highest quality - ceramics, kimonos, souvenirs and delicious gourmet food products.

Nihombashi Mitsukoshi Main Store
The department store is located in Tokyo's Chuo district. ‘It employs’ a robot named Aiko Chihira, dressed in a kimono, at the position of a receptionist at the information desk. The android was created by the Toshiba company. The house is famous for its men's division. It offers tailor-made suits and provides an assistance of team of stylists who help customers choose the right colour of a tie.

Laforet Harajuku is located in Shibuya-ku district in Tokyo. Since its opening in 1978, the house has been the centre of fashion and culture, constituting an important point on the map of Tokyo. There is even a museum.

Isetan Shinjuku Store
While in Tokyo's Shinjuku district, it is worth to visit Isetan Shinjuku Store. This department store has its branches for instance in Japan, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai and Singapore. The flagship house in Tokyo is considered to be one of the most influential in Japan, because it is the first one to present new trends and products, especially fashion and culinary ones. In 2013 the Fashion Museum was created in Isetan. It has been eagerly visited by fashion fans from around the world since then.
